Szczęsny and new semester
Wojciech Szczęsny retired from professional football today.
I’m not a fan of him or Juventus. It just reminds me of some good old days, when our dear microeconomics professor Dr.Marengo used Szczęsny and then-Roma goalkeeper Olsen to demonstrate how basic Game Theory works when they kick penalties against each other. Because of him, I never know how to properly pronounce Szczęsny, and kept saying “Scesni”.
Looking back at those, I think that’s one of the main reasons I love the days studying in Roma. Another example? Andrea Pirlo’s free transfer was used to show how depreciation works in accounting.
Now, today.
This is the third time I witness the first week of school year at Ann Arbor. Terribly hot and changeable weather, chaotic bus schedule and tons of freshmen with their innocent bright young faces…
All the three times, I feel a little annoyed and envy by the scenes on campus, especially when I walked around in the Festifall. In 2021, I was quite excited on the Diag, checking out all fancy clubs and societies there. That when I did not see myself as a proper graduate student, but someone who’s trying to make up something that was missed from my own undergraduate years, which were short, having less social engagement, and interrupted by Covid. The same feeling comes again and again in the next years.
So, the standard saying would be, know what life stage you are now, know your missions and priorities. And some of your feelings are too emotional which would look unreasonable from other people’s perspectives.
On my 24th birthday, I joked that “I feel old”. Well, make some old and mature moves then.
